Mandatory Child Support

Dear Readers,

Should child support be mandatory???

I know from experience that raising a child takes a lot of resources, and we're not just talking about financial ones either. I can't believe that men get agitated by the fact that some mothers have no choice but to turn them in for child support. To be perfectly honest with you I think mandatory visitation and parenting should be enforced as well. What's your say on it???

  2. Oh my goodness I could write on this subject for days..I think there should be mandatory visitations and parenting. I felt it in during my own divorce process...he got to go about his business while I had all the duties of raising my children, one being special needs..I get the joys of disciplining, school trips, haircuts, IEP meetings, therapy appointments and all you got is drop a check in the mail and you want to complain about that. I also have my children asking where is daddy? Mentally, emotionally and physically mothers are working thier ass off. But on the flip side, my sister said to me after me ranting that the courts should make his ass do mandatory visits, "what if he abuses them in any way from being forced to see them." and when she put it like that, it changed my perspective. Also my pastor said to the congregation, "you wouldn't force your child to go with a worthless person on the street so why do it just because he is the sperm donor, if he wanted the child it would not have to be forced." Chuuurch!!! So overall I think it should be individualized, this issue is complicated and should not be cookie cutter in form. There are some men that need the motivation of picture in the paper, being arrested and even the whole credit reprot thing..but not for all fathers. It just depends.

  3. Much 2 do... I'm feeling you on that one. My problem lies in the ability for men/women to neglect their responsibility as parents. I'll even go further as functional people in society. I went through a lot with my fiance' during the first couple of years of or son's life. Because I was a good woman who took an geniune interest in being a first time parent he took it an ran with it. He felt that because I was financially and mentally capable of taking care of our child, that he didn't have to. I finally had to tell him that you have responsibilities regardless. Just like you support your habits, pay your bills, and splurge every month your son is a bill as well. More importantly you have to nurture your son... a shape him... help him find his identity. He learned the hard way that each day on earth precious because he is in jail now. I want to reach out to our men... encouraging them to take their place in society as positive role models... as fathers. Not sperm donors, baby's daddys, and trifling niggas. Any comments???

  4. Late payments and no payments should definitely be posted on credit reports. if I cant pay my bills because the deadbeats havent kicked in what they owe, that goes on my credit report, so why not? Its a sad society when you have to force individuals to take care of their children. I think men/women who skip out should serve jail time. especially when they drive mercedes Benz cars. LOL
